Lucius Fox is renowned for possessing the "Midas Touch," an ability to turn failing businesses into successful conglomerates. He was called in to stabilize Wayne Enterprises, bringing balance to both Bruce Wayne's private and business finances while managing the particulars of the Wayne Foundation as Bruce dictated general policies. In Batman Confidential, he headed the project producing the prototype that became the Batwing. His history with Bruce dates back to Paris, where a young Bruce Wayne rescued him from muggers in Batman: Haunted Knight; later, Fox suggested starting a charity foundation, which Bruce eventually accepted. When Bruce formed the Outsiders, it was to rescue Fox from Baron Bedlam. After Fox suffered a stroke, Bruce ensured he received the best care and supported his family. Following Bruce's public support for Batman Inc., Fox actively supplied company resources and research prototypes. In the comics, he is depicted as aware of Bruce Wayne's identity as Batman, having replaced Alfred Pennyworth in cave operations after Alfred was killed by Bane.

In Their Own Story

In an alternative future shown in Batgirl: Futures End (2014), Lucius's daughter Tiffany grows up to become a gifted protege of Barbara Gordon, adopting the pink-accented Batgirl moniker. His daughter Tam Fox, introduced in Red Robin, was sent by her father to locate Tim Drake, only to discover his secret identity as Red Robin and become involved in conflicts with the League of Assassins. Although it was believed Tam realized Bruce Wayne is Batman, she apparently did not report this to her father. Prior to The New 52 reboot, Lucius had a son named Timothy who struggled with delinquency; this character later returned in the Infinite Frontier miniseries The Next Batman: Second Son as Jace Fox. His son Lucas "Luke" Fox, introduced in New 52 continuity, is an intellectual prodigy and mixed martial artist selected by Bruce Wayne to become Batwing using a high-tech suit designed by his father. Both Luke and David Zavimbe serve as agents of Batman Incorporated.
